 MIS is successful because of its team of dynamic interpreters. We invite you to become a part of this team!
Part-Time Interpreters MIS is always seeking skilled, qualified part-time interpreters. Interpreters interested in working with us must have:
- State of Texas Certification through Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (formerly Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing) Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) Level I or above; or
- RID certification (CI, CT, CI/CT, CSC).
In addition, interpreters must submit a videotaped work sample using the following guidelines:
|
- A 10 minute sample of sign-to-voice;
- A 10 minute sample of voice-to-sign;
- Start the tape by signing your name and the date;
- This should not be a rehearsed sample of your skills;
- Check the sample to be sure that you are clearly seen and heard.
IF WE CANNOT CLEARLY SEE OR HEAR YOU, YOUR SUBMISSION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
If you have additional questions about becoming a part of our team, please contact our Interpreter Coordinator, Tennie Smithey.
Practicum/Internship MIS offers a wonderful environment for interpreting students who wish to participate in a guided experience. This opportunity for development and growth includes encounters with real world situations and the opportunity to apply skills and knowledge in a nurturing environment.
